Meghan is not only a skilled musician, but she is also a musicologist and educator based in Toronto. She studied classical percussion under the tutelage of Nicholas Papador at the University of Windsor where she developed a passion for music research and education. That passion led her to pursue a master of arts degree in musicology at the University of Toronto. There she explored research on the experience of women drummers in contemporary music scenes, among other topics.
For the past six years Meghan has been actively teaching drums and percussion. She has offered private lessons, masterclasses, workshops, and lectured university tutorials. Meghan's ability to teach in a wide variety of settings has allowed her to develop a musical pedagogy that can be both fun and technical, and is adaptable to create personalized lessons for her students.
Meghan's experience in performing drums and percussion encompasses a variety of styles. She has performed as a solo percussionist and in orchestras, pit bands for musicals, chamber ensembles, jazz combos, rock bands, and jazz fusion groups. With this diverse musical background, she supports her students in exploring various musical styles in order to develop their own unique musicality.
