Stephen started learning to play the Piano at the age of 7 but discontinued lessons after completing his grade 1 RCM. Throughout middle and high school, Stephen never thought about learning to play music again.
His last year in high school, he was inspired by a teacher to write poetry and express himself; This freedom to express his ideas led him to pick up the guitar at age 17 and teach himself. A year after that, he began learning Theory and Classical music under a tutor which helped him acquire his Grade 8 RCM. With hard work, passion and dedication he spent countless hours preparing for his grade 10 RCM and application to College. He completed his Grade 10 RCM examination but failed to pass the Post secondary auditions 2 years in a row. With persistence he finally he got accepted into Humber College’s Jazz Introduction program. After his completion of The Jazz Intro program, he auditioned and got accepted into the bachelor program where he is now in his second year.
Continually striving to improve, Stephen who has been teaching professionally for the past year brings the same mentality into the classroom. He believes in a structured plan for acquiring student goals and ensures that his students know how to practice to improve. Above all else Stephen’s main goal to inspire curiosity and creativity in his current and future students.
