Learn Drums at Muzart — Serving Toronto Since 2010

Muzart Music and Art School has been providing drum lessons to Toronto students for over fifteen years. Our dedicated drum studios are equipped with professional kits so you can start learning right away — no drum kit purchase needed. Every program includes all method books, sheet music, and learning materials as part of your tuition, and new students receive drumsticks to take home.

Our experienced drum instructors teach a wide range of styles including rock, jazz, funk, Latin, and pop. Lessons cover stick control, reading notation, rhythm development, coordination between hands and feet, and performance skills. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an intermediate player looking to sharpen your technique, your instructor builds a customized curriculum around your goals.

Our studio at 225 The East Mall in Etobicoke is easily accessible from Toronto via Highway 427 or TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth), with free parking on-site.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Toronto Drum Lessons

Do we need a drum kit at home to start lessons?

Not at all — our studios are fully equipped with professional drum kits, so you can start learning right away. For home practice, we recommend starting with a practice pad, which is inexpensive and nearly silent. When you’re ready to invest in a kit, your instructor can advise on acoustic kits, electronic drums, or rental options that fit your space and budget.

How do I practice drums at home without disturbing neighbours?

This is one of the most common concerns parents have. A practice pad is the best starting point — it develops stick control and technique with almost no noise. When you’re ready for a full kit, electronic drums with headphones are an excellent option for apartments and houses with shared walls. Your instructor will recommend a practice routine that works for your living situation.

What age can my child start drum lessons?

We welcome students as young as age 5. At this age, children typically have the coordination and focus needed to begin learning basic rhythms and stick technique. Our instructors adapt their teaching methods to suit each young student’s physical size and attention span.
What styles of drums do you teach?

What style of drum do you teach?

Our drum instruction covers rock, pop, jazz, funk, Latin, blues, and more. Beginners start with foundational techniques — grip, basic beats, reading notation — that apply across all styles. As students progress, they specialize in their preferred genres while continuing to develop coordination, timing, and musicianship.

How long are drum lessons?

We offer flexible lesson lengths based on age and level. We recommend 30-minute lessons for young beginners (ages 5–8), 45 minutes for intermediate students, and 60 minutes for advanced players. Your instructor will recommend the best fit during your trial lesson.

How do I get to your studio from downtown Toronto?

Take TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) westbound to Kipling Station — our studio is a 10-minute walk or quick bus ride south to The East Mall. By car, take the Gardiner Expressway to Highway 427 North; the drive from downtown is typically 20–25 minutes with free parking on-site.
