Frequently Asked Questions About Singing Lessons in Toronto
What age can my child start voice lessons?
We welcome vocal students from age 5 and up. For younger singers, we focus on developing pitch recognition, breath support, and a love for music through age-appropriate songs and exercises. Our instructors are careful to protect developing voices with proper technique from the very beginning.
What styles of singing do you teach?
We offer instruction in pop, classical, musical theatre, jazz, R&B, rock, folk, and more. Beginners start with foundational technique — breathing, posture, pitch, and rhythm — that applies across all styles. As students progress, they specialize in their preferred genres while maintaining healthy vocal habits.
Is piano accompaniment included in lessons?
Yes — every voice lesson includes professional piano accompaniment at no extra charge. Our piano-equipped studios provide the ideal environment for vocal development, and having live accompaniment helps students develop musicality and timing in a way that backing tracks can’t match.
Do I need prior singing experience to start?
Not at all. Many of our students are complete beginners who simply enjoy singing and want to develop their voice properly. Your instructor will start with the fundamentals — breathing technique, posture, and basic exercises — and build from there at your pace.
Do you help with audition preparation?
Yes. We help students prepare for musical theatre auditions, school performances, choir placements, and other opportunities. This includes song selection, performance coaching, and working through audition-specific requirements.
How long are voice lessons?
We offer 30-minute lessons for young beginners (ages 5–8), 45 minutes for intermediate students, and 60 minutes for advanced singers. Your instructor will recommend the best fit based on your age, goals, and experience during your trial lesson.
How do I get to your studio from downtown Toronto?
Take TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) westbound to Kipling Station — our studio is a 10-minute walk or quick bus ride south to The East Mall. By car, take the Gardiner Expressway to Highway 427 North; the drive from downtown is typically 20–25 minutes with free parking on-site.
