About Christina
Christina is a versatile artist hailing from Mississauga, Ontario and received her Master’s of Music in Voice Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Susanne Mentzer. She received her Bachelor of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University for Voice Performance with exceptional appointee of the Order of Ontario Canadian soprano Leslie Fagan. She has performed with Spotlight on Opera (Shreveport, Louisiana), Good Mess Opera Theatre (online), Vienna Summer Music Festival, SFCM Opera and Musical Theatre Department, Long Reach Opera Workshop (Toronto, Ontario), Halifax Summer Opera Festival, Centre of Opera Studies in Italy, and Opera Laurier (Waterloo, Ontario) in a diverse range of roles from the contralto role of Mahkwa (Giiwedin: North Wind, Magowan & Dénommé-Welch, Opera Laurier, 2013), mezzo-soprano role Hermia as well as soprano role of Helena (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Britten, HSOF 2018-SFCM Opera 2019) to Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro, Mozart, LROW 2019) to a gender-bent role of Lensky (Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky, Opera Queens 2022), and performed her first title role as Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Spotlight on Opera in 2024. She has also performed as a soloist with Theatre Direct’s MARCH FORWARD festival in 2023, Ben Kim’s Musicians Without Borders Canada, the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra under Colin Clarke, and the Halton-Mississauga Youth Orchestra, and regularly shares her music as a recitalist and guest performer with the community of St. Stephen’s on-the-Hill United Church and beyond. She is an avid supporter of vocal physiology and its importance in the fundamentals of vocal pedagogy through exploration of playfulness and unique expression, and has been teaching voice and piano since 2012.
