About Janessa

Janessa is a Toronto-based artist and Master of Fine Arts candidate at OCAD University. She primarily works in acrylic and oil painting, creating large-scale paintings and drawings while also exploring mixed media approaches, photography, film, installation, and more. Her current artistic research explores material culture and identity, which informs her ongoing studio practice and creative process. Her work has been exhibited across the Greater Toronto Area and internationally.

Alongside her studio practice, Janessa works as a freelance artist, taking on commissioned projects and providing face painting for children at events and celebrations. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love of art with the next generation of artists. She especially enjoys watching students develop their skills and become more confident in their creativity. She strives to create a welcoming and supportive environment where young artists can explore their ideas, experiment freely, and feel encouraged throughout their creative process.
