Private Art Lessons in Toronto

One-on-One Art Instruction for Toronto Students Since 2010

Muzart Music and Art School has been providing private art lessons to Toronto students of all ages for over fifteen years. Our one-on-one format means your instructor builds a completely personalized curriculum around your goals — whether you’re a child exploring art for the first time, a teen preparing a portfolio for ESA, OCAD, or Cawthra Park, or an adult developing new creative skills.

Our experienced art instructors teach across a full range of mediums: drawing (graphite, charcoal, pastels, coloured pencils), painting (acrylics, watercolour, gouache), mixed media, sculpture, and digital art creation on iPad workstations. Every lesson includes all professional art supplies plus a take-home art kit — no extra purchases required.

Our studio at 225 The East Mall in Etobicoke is easily accessible from Toronto via Highway 427 or TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth), with free parking on-site.

Frequently Asked Questions About Private Art Lessons in Toronto

What ages do you teach?

Private art lessons are available for all ages — children (age 5+), teens, and adults. Your instructor adapts teaching methods, project complexity, and pacing to suit each student’s age, experience, and goals.

What art mediums are covered?

We teach drawing (graphite, charcoal, pastels, coloured pencils), painting (acrylics, watercolour, gouache), mixed media, sculpture, and digital art on iPads. Your instructor can focus on specific mediums based on your interests or create a curriculum that covers a range of techniques.

Do I need prior art experience?

No experience is needed. Many of our students are complete beginners. Your instructor starts at your current level and builds skills progressively — whether that means learning to hold a pencil properly or refining advanced composition techniques.

Do you help with portfolio preparation for art schools?

Yes — portfolio preparation is one of our specializations. We help students prepare for competitive programs including the Etobicoke School of the Arts (ESA), OCAD University, Cawthra Park, Cardinal Carter Academy, and others. Our dedicated portfolio preparation program covers strategic planning, medium selection, project development, and application guidance.

What’s the difference between private and group art lessons?

Private lessons are one-on-one with your instructor, allowing a fully customized curriculum, flexible pacing, and focused attention on your specific goals. Group art classes (max 6 students, ages 5–12) offer a collaborative, social learning environment with structured projects. Many families start with a group class and add private lessons when they want deeper focus on specific skills or portfolio work.

How long are private art lessons?

Private art lessons are typically 45–60 minutes, which allows enough time for instruction, hands-on work, and experimentation with different mediums. Your instructor can recommend the best duration based on your age and goals during the trial lesson.

How do I get to your studio from Toronto?

Take TTC Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) westbound to Kipling Station — our studio is a 10-minute walk or quick bus ride south to The East Mall. By car, take the Gardiner Expressway to Highway 427 North; the drive from most Toronto neighbourhoods is 15–25 minutes with free parking on-site.
