About Jade
American percussionist Jade is a dynamic presence on and offstage. Combining theatrics and technical performance in a musical amalgamation, Jade has committed his career to bridging the gap between the arts. By offering his skill set to other artists, Jade continues to curate collaborations based on poetry and literature as well as visual art and dance. Jade has been invited to perform and present at Transplanted Roots Percussion Research Symposium and the Arcata Gathering with Marimba One as well as been a participant in the Beta Percussion Seminar and soundSCAPE Composition and Performance Exchange.
While currently based in Toronto, Jade has spent the last few years before his time at University of Toronto in Vancouver B.C. establishing himself as an artist and educator outside of the US. As an educator, Jade was able to spend time teaching percussion at Douglas College and was also the Artist in Residence for St. John’s School in addition to private teaching in the area. As an artist and performer, Jade joined Scrap Arts Music and continues to perform with them on their Children of Metropolis show. Jade is from Springfield, Oregon. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Oregon State University and a Master of Music from Southern Oregon University where he studied with Bob Brudvig and Terry Longshore at those institutions respectively. Jade is a strong proponent for the marching arts and spent years working and studying with Justin Preece, Alan Keown, and Matthew Keown on and off the field as well.
